2012 Clipsal 500 Adelaide Attendance
2012 CLIPSAL 500 ADELAIDE ATTRACTS MASSIVE ATTENDANCE IN 14TH YEAR
The 2012 Clipsal 500 Adelaide has attracted a massive attendance of 263,400 over the four day event.
‘This is a brilliant result. We have held the attendance within three per cent of last year’s total and in the current economic climate that is an outstanding success’, South Australian Motor Sport Board Chief Executive Mark Warren said today.
Today’s (Sunday March 4) attendance was 82,100, slightly more than last year’s final day figure of 81,500.

Get Your Kicks on Route 66!
Nostalgia galore is the theme of Route 66 at the 2012 Clipsal 500 Adelaide and if you haven‟t had the opportunity to take the drive from "Chicago to LA" this is the very best next thing.
The golden era of street rods, speedway cars, cruisin cars, muscle cars, chopper bikes, and rock'n roll music that made Route 66 famous is all at this year's event.
Chrome, tail fins, big V8‟s, custom bikes, and dirt track machines are the stars and there is even a "T-Bird Bar" for those with a thirst and a need for a close-up look at a fantastic Ford Thunderbird convertible.
Among the cars on display will be Corvette, Mustang, Buick, Pontiac, Cobra, Ford Galaxy, Oldsmobile, Ford Edsel, Chrysler Royal, Chrysler Imperial, Cadillac, Studebaker, plus of course Hot Rods, and examples of the uniquely different new craze of Rat Rods.
DISNEY-PIXAR CARS MOVIE “MACK THE TRANSPORTER” AND CLIPSAL 500 ADELAIDE ON PARADE
“Mack The Transporter” from the smash hit movie CARS is to be the star of the show on the streets of Adelaide when he rolls into town ahead of this year’s Clipsal 500 Adelaide motor sport carnival.
The bright red giant truck with the friendly face is a firm favourite of children and adults alike and “Mack” together with his “friends” in the form of street rods, show cars, and chopper motorbikes glistening with chrome are meeting up for a special street parade.
‘It’s going to be a little like what happened years ago when the circus came to town, and will alert people as to some of the new attractions we have at this year’s Clipsal 500 Adelaide’, South Australian Chief Executive Mark Warren said today.
Scheduled for 28 February, the 28 vehicle plus parade will depart the Clipsal 500 Adelaide circuit at 12.30pm via Hutt Street and will travel along Pulteney Street, North Terrace, King William Street, through Victoria Square, Gouger Street, Morphett Street, Grote Street, and Wakefield Street to return to the circuit at approximately 1.05pm.

IT’S THE CLIPSAL 500 ADELAIDE AND IT'S COOPERS BEER
Coopers, South Australia’s iconic family company has been appointed official beer supplier to the Clipsal 500 Adelaide and to the entire 2012 V8 Supercars Championship Series.
‘This is fantastic news. We are the State’s largest annual ticketed sporting event, and the biggest V8 Supercars event in the Championship and to have a partnership with a brand as famous as Coopers is a great coup for South Australian business’, Mark Warren Chief Executive of the South Australian Motor Sport Board said today.
‘This is another example of how the Clipsal 500 Adelaide and V8 Supercars provide economic benefit and employment in South Australia’, he said.
“BLINK AND YOU’LL MISS IT” – DRAG DEMONSTRATIONS AT CLIPSAL 500
The most extreme form of bitumen based motor sport is to be featured at the 2012 Clipsal 500 Adelaide with demonstrations by some of the nation's top exponents of drag racing.
National champion Darren Morgan will be in the hot seat of the AEG Powertools Top Fuel dragster and Phil Lamattina will be piloting the FUCHS machine when they take to the Adelaide circuit made famous by Formula 1 and V8 Supercars.
"These Top Fuel dragsters will be the most powerful and the fastest "cars" ever seen on our circuit and the demonstration runs will an awesome, brand new feature at the nation's best and biggest motor sport festival," Clipsal 500 Adelaide Chief Executive Mark Warren says.
The AEG Powertools and FUCHS Top Fuel dragsters will be seen on circuit on both Friday ( 2 March ) and Saturday 3 March) together with a Top Doorslammer and a Top Alcohol drag vehicle.

International Driver to Headline Aussie Racing Car Series at the 2012 Clipsal 500
American based race car driver Tom Drewer, who is originally from Adelaide, is set to compete in the first round of the 2012 FW1 Aussie Racing Cars Super Series which will take place at the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide from March 1 to 4.
Drewer, a former Australian Thundersports Champion (2007) has been living and racing in the USA for the past four years after being recruited by West race cars in Atlanta, Georgia. The experienced racer said that the opportunity to compete in the FW1 Aussie Racing Cars Super Series is very exciting and he is looking forward to showing the other drivers in the Series a thing or two.

2012 Clipsal 500 iPhone App now available!
CLIPSAL 500 ADELAIDE - THE RACE THAT ROCKS - NOW ON iPhone app
Another great initiative for the 2012 Clipsal 500 Adelaide in the form of the new, improved iPhone app was launched today.
Faster loading, the new app includes the daily race program for all eight categories, dynamic race result access for all categories as soon as results are confirmed, and a new feature listing detailed profiles of all V8 Supercar drivers.
Also new on the app in 2012 is the full concert line-up with profiles on all the performers including audio, video and social networking links.
Other useful information includes the time and location of all off and on track attractions, and key event information including road closures, car parking and free transport options.
The 2012 Clipsal 500 Adelaide app also has a GPS powered interactive map, and official Clipsal 500 and driver twitter feeds.

Mark Winterbottom Target Autograph Signing!
Ford Performance Racing star driver Mark "Frosty" Winterbottom will be in Adelaide for a special visit to promote the Disney-Pixar CARS Truck Tour at the Clipsal 500 Adelaide which will feature a full size replica of the favourite "Lightning McQueen" character from the block buster movie, Mack the Transporter, plus a host of other attractions.
Winterbottom, who has a part in the movie, will be at the Target Centrepoint store (corner of Pulteney & Rundle Streets) on Wednesday 15 February 2012 from 4.30pm to 5.30pm.
The popular driver will be signing autographs, and be available for photographs in addition to spreading the word about the Disney-Pixar CARS Truck Tour and the South Australian launch of the "Lightning McQueen" character from the movie at this year's Clipsal 500 Adelaide to be held from 1-4 March 2012.

Music SA has partnered with the SA Motor Sport Board to present Bands On Track - a feast of South Australian live music over 4 days and nights as part of the Adelaide Casino Live Large Concert Series at the Clipsal 500 Adelaide in March 2012.
Wednesday night Ride Into The Sun, Lady Strangelove, Hawks Of Alba, Quiet Child and Curses competed in the last final, to open the stage for Good Charlotte and The Living End on Sunday March 4. At the end of the night, Music SA announced that the artist selected to open the Clipsal 500 Adelaide Concert Stage for Good Charlotte and The Living End on Sunday March 4 is Lady Strangelove.

Music SA has partnered with the SA Motor Sport Board to present Bands On Track - a feast of South Australian live music over 4 days and nights as part of the Adelaide Casino Live Large Concert Series at the Clipsal 500 Adelaide in March 2012.
Music SA has chosen 15 SA bands to compete for an opportunity to perform alongside Australia’s best live acts, opening the Clipsal 500 Concert Stage on Friday March 2, Saturday March 3 or Sunday March 4. Shows are being held at Fowler’s Live January 12, 19, and 25 to determine the winning acts. Each night, a group of industry professionals will select a band for the gig of a lifetime - performing to an audience of thousands with full concert production, backstage rider, and guest tickets thanks to Clipsal 500 Adelaide.
Last night Lyla, Dexter Jones, Raider, Heston Drop and The Rules competed to open the stage for INXS on Saturday March 3.
