Did you know that the team who runs the Clipsal 500 Adelaide now manage the Global Green Challenge (formerly the World Solar Challenge)? We would like to invite you to Victoria Square in the city to welcome the teams as they arrive from their 3000km trek through the outback. See the cars of the future, meet the teams and experience the mind boggling technology.

• The winner of the 2009 Global Green Challenge, Japan's Tokai Challenger
• The alcohol run postie bike by Top Gear
• The HSV Maloo V8 Ute

World Record

On Tuesday, the Tesla, driven by founder Simon Hackett, Managing Director of Australian national broadband company Internode, with co-driver Emilis Prelgauskas sets a world record for a production electric car by reaching a distance of 501 kilometres on a single charge north of Coober Pedy in South Australia.
